Haven't Been to the Gym & It's Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday Dolls,

WOW! This week has been a really weird blur... I'm either fighting a cold, flu or just in a major funk! Super tired, dehydrated & my left eye is twitching {have no clue if that's good or bad, but it's here this week and it wasn't last week}.

This afternoon I seemed to perk up a tad-- I slept in this morning, maybe that's what my body needed to "rejuvenate". I haven't been in the gym since Friday, busy weekend
& not feeling well so far this week. Honestly, what I SHOULD BE doing is heading to the gym-- I preach the health benefits of fighting fatigue with fitness, yet am home feeling fatigued and not heading to the gym, lol... What shall I do with myself?!

Anywho, now that I've convinced myself to head to the gym tonight... I wanted to give you an update on what's happening here! Ha!

My garden is starting to show some signs of life. It's so exciting to watch the seeds turn into little sprouts. Below are the only things growing, so far. Radishes! They are so cute, I'm proud of how tall they've grown in 6 days!

Baby Radishes
Other new things-- I've started {as of today} the 30 Day Push by Chalene Johnson. She is amazing, SUCH an inspiration to me! I've done this program 5 times & every time it teaches me something new about setting priorities and goals. It's such a great way to start the year, so I'm doing it! I have the book as well and am going to do the online program alongside the book. Good stuff right here :)
Grizzly is a Chalene fan, as well :)
Another exciting thing for me is this...

A Pomegranate!
I NEVER buy these, but love the taste. My neighbor had purchased too many, so she brought me one. I love these seeds on salads and such. I may even find a new recipe to use my pomegranate in. We shall see.

Well, I hope you are feeling AMAZING and full of energy and love! I'm headed to the gym after dinner & determined to FEEL BETTER.

Three Day-er FUN!

Hi Doll,

Sooooo... The last weekend was a three-day weekend, which is AMAZING for those of you with Mon-Fri jobs. For me, who has been blessed with a super unconventional {Create my OWN schedule} type of job, it was just another day. In the spirit of three day weekends though, I did have a blast!

Saturday, I spent the day working {I'm a paramedical examiner: basically I go to clients houses/offices and conduct insurance physicals}. It was still a super awesome Saturday, I get to meet some amazing people and since I love networking, it gives me the perfect opportunity to connect with other great people on this island. Other times, it scares me to see who else lives on this island, but that's for another post...

Sunday was FANTASTICAL!! Unfortunately Dave had to study, so he couldn't come, but my friend Simeon and I headed out early to hit up Starbucks for a little java. We went to church and were fed with an awesome message from pastor Charles. We had lunch, cocktails and headed to "da beach". It was so pretty, and felt so good to soak up some serious rays :) We stayed all day, met up with some of Simeon's friends and stayed till sunset watching whales jump ALL OVER out there. These are the days living on Maui is SO spectacular.

So bummed Dave missed out, but there is always next Sunday or really any day, because we live here! We came home that night and watched Taken 2, yikes! Good movie.

Anywho, GRAND weekend-- Loved it! I'm ready for a brand new week :)

{No pics... Sad I know, but my camera lens was scratched, should be getting fixed tomorrow!}

Behind the Name {Bright Pink Purpose}

Good Afternoon Loves!

Today, I wanted to share with you where the name: My Glam Life: Living with "Bright Pink Purpose" came from!

Even if you don't know me well, you can quickly figure out that I LOVE PINK! The color makes me happy, it literally puts a smile on my face... AND if you pair it with leopard print -- Oh my, you've totally made my day! I enjoy being a girl and everything that comes with it. I will never turn down a shopping trip, makeover, tea party or girls nights out. Bright Pink is the color that encompasses my personality. The color PINK represents: femininity, love, innocence, passion, harmony, youthfulness, purity, good health, life, freshness, compassion, relaxation, playfulness and gentle emotions.

You're thinking YIKES, the woman is too pink for me! Haha! So I'll share a little about myself.  I was raised in a small town in Oregon, with my dad, mom and brothers. I spent lots of weekends growing up remodeling the old house my parents bought, camping, hiking, rock collecting {a passion of mine at a young age ;)}, riding bikes, trying to be "one of the guys" with my older brother and his friends, spending time with my grandparents on their 10 acre Christmas tree farm. My best friend was a TOTAL tomboy and had brothers herself. Basically, I was raised around guys and I have learned to LOVE and appreciate that about my childhood. My mom, whom I love and respect so very much, taught me so many important things about being a woman in a "man's world"-- Like, Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty, use some elbow grease, Be proud to be a woman, know when to talk and when to keep your opinions to yourself, Be classy, not trashy, Eat your vegetables, Be respectful, Say your pleases and thank-yous, Never take the people you meet for granted, they are in your life for a reason.

I figure these are some of the basics a parent should teach their daughters, but they stick with me. Especially-- Be proud to be a woman. Living with Bright Pink Purpose, it encompasses all that I stand for as a woman. Although I was raised around guys and tomboys, my deep feminine-ness always rose to the top.

My desire is to live with purpose, is the reason for the "Purpose" part of the name. I'm not just here on earth to be here! I'm here for a reason, I want to wake up each morning, KNOWING there is a huge purpose for me and my life. That drives me to be the best "Hannah" I can be. Honestly, when people ask me where I get my energy, zest, passion... I can confidently say, it's because my life is being used for a purpose, Christ's purpose. It's an amazing and wonderful thing to say! I wake up excited because my life has meaning. My path is one that's been laid out for me and I walk it fervently and with passion. <--- That is my purpose!

"My Glam Life" comes from the fact that I think I live a pretty darn glamorous life! My husband and our two fur-kids live in Maui, he's currently in the University of Hawaii Nursing program and I'm taking classes towards my Bachelor's in Business {Marketing & PR}. I love getting all glammed up-- Dressed to the nines, even if my hubby and I are only heading to IHOP. The word GLAM, in my opinion, gives a state of importance, excitement, attractiveness, purpose, feminine-ness, fashion forward, stylishness, classiness, or en vogue, swanky.

That's how the name came in to play. It reflects me and since it's my blog-- that only makes sense! I hope you Enjoy the blog and don't be afraid to leave comments. I love meeting new amazing people!

Starting My Garden-- The Right Way!

Yesterday afternoon was completely dedicated to my backyard garden. It was gorgeous weather, perfect for getting my garden started. Here in Hawaii you can have a flourishing year-round garden-- The key is getting it started and keeping up with the maintenance.

So, I grabbed my shovel, a bucket and my beautiful pregnant neighbor, Nicole, and got to work. We first went into the horse pasture and did the "dirty work". Shoveled old horse poo, Haha! Kind of gross, but if you want an amazing garden, you gotta get some poop!

We got all we needed and went back up to my garden plot and tilled it into the dirt {along with some amazing compost from Nicole's garden}. We then made rows and planted all my seeds. We watered it and if we did everything right, we should see starts within a week. I am VERY excited to see these little sprouts pop up.

My Little Garden Plot! Looks a little bare, but soon I'll share some pics of it sprouting!

My garden is officially full of Butter Lettuce, Red Lettuce, Tomatoes, Red and Orange Bell Peppers, Cilantro, Lime Basil, Parsley, Green Onion, Radishes & Carrots. I also planted some Lavender in a pot on the side and will stick that in the ground once it starts to grow.

After I washed up and got all the dirt {And who knows what else} out from under my nails, I made a quick, tasty dinner.  ENCHILADAS! SO tasty and delicious :)

Anyways, that was my yesterday!

Re-focusing My Goals & Priorities for 2013

This morning I woke up to the warm sun blaring through my bedroom windows. Such a gorgeous day outside here with blue skies and hot sun!

Yes! That is the ocean in the background--Bright blue.

I woke up knowing today was going to be a “heart to heart” day. There are SO many things I am wanting to do, I’m being pulled in so many directions. It was time to take a break from my busy-ness, sit down, breath and focus on what my goals, priorities and desires were. Weeding out all of the mess and sewing in good seeds of productivity. So I got out of bed, made myself a green shake, and sent my hubby off to school {He’s currently in the UH Nursing program}.

My "GREEN" shake!

After sipping my shake & grabbing my notebook, I found a quiet place to sit and relax. I really focused and prayed for direction in my life, that my goals and priorities would be on track with the big picture. I thought about ALL of the things I want to do and love to do and decided which ones I have space for at this time in my life and which ones I can focus on in the next season of my life.

Ahh, writing everything down suddenly makes life so much easier. It’s like my brain isn’t swirling with “what if’s” and “how can I’s”. It’s just focused and knows exactly what step to take next. It’s amazing to have a plan, and though life doesn’t always go to plan and craziness is always around the next corner. It makes it so much easier when you know where you want to be and that you ARE going to get there.

Now that I feel totally free after that life planning sesh-- I’m off to garden or should I say, WEED! It’s a beautiful day outside & I’m taking full advantage.

Do you ever take a {Priorities} inventory? Weeding out all of the wants and to-do's that are just getting in the way of your clear goals?

Finding Our Groovy Routine

Seven days since we stepped off the plane from our fabulous 3 1/2 week vacation in Oregon. It was amazing! I enjoyed every minute of it, but now it's REAL LIFE. Schedule driven, homework filled, salad eating, water drinking, gym going, house cleaning, bill paying, challenge driven LIFE! Whew!

I'm okay though, I am so blessed and really do love my routine {Once I find it again}. I think today was the day where it all straightened out and I finally thought, "I can do this, I have this thing {LIFE} under control!"

I definitely need a Brain-Booster and some time to sit and FOCUS on my goals and priorities, but that's for another day.

Right now I'm just taking in all of the beautiful things my life holds and getting through the next few days without losing it :)

I hope y'all are ENJOYING your January and I'll chat with you later!

Happy New Year 2013

The first day of the New Year is a groggy one for most! Most people around the world stay up WAY too late ringing in the New Year, maybe have a little too much to drink and usually wake up so exhausted their day just drags on. Not for me. Although I was sleepy from the 3am bed time!

I welcomed 2013 with a great group of people! We played a fun game of laser tag, (sounds "teenagerish" but was REALLY fun!) watched the ball drop and enjoyed laughs and conversation. These amazing people I spent NYE with, I've known forever! Dave and I have been back in Oregon for three weeks, visiting our hometown and catching up with people we grew up with. One great thing about growing up in a small town (there are many) is meeting up around the holidays, catching up, and starting right where we left off when we saw each other last year. I love it!

Such a GREAT group of people!

This evening Dave and I FINALLY got to meet up with our amazing friends Austin and Meghann and meet their adorable daughter, Emma, who is 5 months old.

Emma Grace
She is PRECIOUS. Lots of smiles, which of course, brought smiles to my face. Emma's mommy has been one of my best friends for 10 years and I was so blessed to be able to meet her beautiful daughter and catch up with their sweet little family.

We leave back to Hawaii on Friday the 4th, so our trip is coming to an end. Sad thought, but back to life, back to reality! I'm so blessed and this trip has been wonderful. Just the break we needed to refresh ourselves this holiday season.
