Getting Rid of the "Debbie-Downer" Mentality!

HELLO!!! This is a confession/learning situation post...

This morning I was totally struggling with being content, or the lack of... Uugghh! Most of the time I look to the positive things in life and live “glass half full”, but for some reason I let the small {insignificant} things take over my mind. Negativity is like a poison to me, some people can live their whole lives being a Debbie-Downer and letting life get the best of them. Not I! I thrive on positivity and endorphins!

I woke up and was super irritated with the smallest little issues, some say to blame it on pregnancy hormones—But I take full responsibility for my negativity in this instance. I was just letting these issues become an elephant when it was really only the size of an ant.

After Dave left for work {He was eager to leave me to my issues, I’m sure!} I knew I needed to do something to get out of this funk! I sat on the porch as he drove away and started writing down all of the things that were bothering me. I read them over and over and it suddenly occurred to me; I was creating this victim attitude towards these small issues that, in the BIG picture, mean NOTHING! I was bringing down my husband, totally ignoring the pups, causing a fuss over absolutely nothing… I felt like a total loser.  So, I laced up my shoes, grabbed my water bottle and headed out for a walk –FRESH AIR- exactly what the Doctor orders in these situations. After my walk, I came home and turned on a prenatal yoga video {STRETCH}, sat and took deep breaths. Thinking about that list and cancelling out all of the situations I wrote down, with positive thoughts instead of negative. I know this sounds all new-age-y and spiritual, but it really wasn’t.
I needed solitude, where I could be alone with my thoughts, focus on the blessings that will come out of these situations that seem “bigger & badder than life” and MOVE THE HECK ON! Sometimes you have to give up the good to get to the great!
Thank you Lord for helping me see!!

What I learned: We are all dealt certain situations in life that totally suck! Some worse than others—WE are the ONLY ones who can either look at the positive through these situations or focus on how horrible they are. There is no one who will do it for us.

Dwell on the negative or positive? It’s totally your decision, but when I took a few deep breaths and got rid of those negative situations, I felt like a MILLION BUCKS. The hubby cam home to a HUGE apology, clean house and dinner. The pups got their pettins, and I got my “happy” back.

Have you ever been in this situation?? Do you let the "debbie-downers" take you down??

XO,
Hannah

Definitely look a happier than I was, LOL-- Sweat out your issues! It works!

Three Day-er FUN!

Hi Doll,

Sooooo... The last weekend was a three-day weekend, which is AMAZING for those of you with Mon-Fri jobs. For me, who has been blessed with a super unconventional {Create my OWN schedule} type of job, it was just another day. In the spirit of three day weekends though, I did have a blast!

Saturday, I spent the day working {I'm a paramedical examiner: basically I go to clients houses/offices and conduct insurance physicals}. It was still a super awesome Saturday, I get to meet some amazing people and since I love networking, it gives me the perfect opportunity to connect with other great people on this island. Other times, it scares me to see who else lives on this island, but that's for another post...

Sunday was FANTASTICAL!! Unfortunately Dave had to study, so he couldn't come, but my friend Simeon and I headed out early to hit up Starbucks for a little java. We went to church and were fed with an awesome message from pastor Charles. We had lunch, cocktails and headed to "da beach". It was so pretty, and felt so good to soak up some serious rays :) We stayed all day, met up with some of Simeon's friends and stayed till sunset watching whales jump ALL OVER out there. These are the days living on Maui is SO spectacular.

So bummed Dave missed out, but there is always next Sunday or really any day, because we live here! We came home that night and watched Taken 2, yikes! Good movie.

Anywho, GRAND weekend-- Loved it! I'm ready for a brand new week :)

{No pics... Sad I know, but my camera lens was scratched, should be getting fixed tomorrow!}

TTYL

Waves of Time

Such an uneventful Sunday morning spent in bed, with my coffee cup in hand, my hubby and the pups fast asleep beside me. These morning are the BEST! When you can just sit and soak in the good vibes. Sun shining into the pasture is what I can see from my big bedroom windows. I can also look out and see the Ocean, which is BY FAR my favorite view. The ocean is where I belong. Ever since I was a little girl, being at the ocean was such a healing place. Peaceful yet so majestic and mysterious, there really is no place I've ever been that gives me the amazing feeling I get when I feel like time stands still and my feet are placed on the edge where the water meets the sand. It really is MY place! I feel the Lord in the power of the waves and the gentleness of the tide.

This could be THE reason I love living where I do. I can get to the ocean in 5 minutes flat! Whether I just want to stare at the waves, climb in and let the salt water soak into my skin or close my eyes and sit on the edge and breath in the fresh air, and let it revive me. To me, being by the ocean is best place to BE.

The last few weeks I've been struggling with finding TIME! Sitting in the Dr's office and waiting for your name to be called can be the slowest movement of time, while dinner with friends seems so fast! You sit, you chat and all of the sudden you're walking back to your car checking your watch wondering how it flew by so fast?!

As an adult it just seems like there aren't enough hours in the day to get the to-do list completed AND do the "fun" things. So, with all of this being said, I am really learning how to manage my time. I want to Enjoy this amazing life I have, but I also need to be faithful with all of the responsibilities in my life. I'm learning to just breath in and out and let life take it's course. There are SO many things to do and so many things I've already done. My life is Blessed and I just want to soak in the Goodness of each day, not stressing myself out because I HAVE TO GET STUFF DONE!!

As I stared at the ocean this morning, it reminded me of this time thing and the constant battle I have with it. It was just a reminder to take Time, live Life and make sure to keep the Balance between the hours rolling by and the moments of amazing-ness when time stands still and my feet are placed on the edge where the water meets the sand.

How do you manage time? Do you have a special place you FEEL is YOUR place?

xoxo
